SILVER LAKE, Kan. (KSNT) – A 9-year-old Silver Lake girl, who captured the hearts of thousands of people, has died.
Parker Monhollon was just short of her 10th birthday, when she lost her battle with a brain tumor Monday evening. Parker was diagnosed with a rare condition known as DIPG, in January of 2016.
On her “Parker Loves Life” Facebook page, Parker’s parents wrote, “7:55p.m. we lost our baby girl, Parker LeAnn Monhollon! Her legacy began at the same time. We will carry her memory on forever”.
Parker would have been 10, on July 26.

Parker Monhollon from Silver Lake passed away on Monday night. She had been fighting a brain tumor.
More than 50,000 people followed Parker’s fight on the “Parker Loves Life” Facebook page.
Now neighbors all around Silver Lake are adorning their houses in Parker’s favorite color purple
“I put ribbons up before, when she first got sick, said neighbor Judy Butler. I put ribbons out here, so I just thought, she needed more ribbons out here.”
Many people around northeast Kansas held a fundraiser to support the family and help find a cure for the rare brain cancer.
Parker was just days away from her 10th birthday. Our hearts and prayers are with the family.

Parker Monhollon was diagnosed with DIPG in January 15th 2016, at age 8. She lost her battle after fighting bravely for 17 months. Parker passed away on 10th of July 2017.
